Mike Lunapiena is an Acoustic/Electric Cellist and composer in the Westchester/New York City area.

Far from your typical classical musician, Mike started cello at the late age of 16. Within his first year of playing he applied and was accepted to Manhattanville College where he studies with Michael Meade and is currently pursuing his BA in Music.

In the 3 years since he started playing, Mike has played in an Off-Off Broadway production of Marat/Sade & the 2006 Midtown International Theatre Festival production of Quiet Model, by L.A. Mitchell. Additionally, he has performed with the Manhattanville College Orchestra & MIDI Band, and served as an Assistant Instructor for Hoff Barthelsons's Summer Art's Program and for Daniel's Music Foundation.

Beyond his traditional performance and teaching experience, Mike breaks through new grounds by experimentating with the world of Electric Cello and FX Pedals. Over Summer 2007, he intends to launch a myspace page devoted to this Electric Cello Experiment.

In addition to his work and studies as a cellist, Mike also began a journey into composition in Spring 2007. Currently his works are for solo cello, though he hopes to write for more diverse instrumentations as he progresses through his journey..

He is currently available for gigs/engagements, teaching (beginner and intermediate students only), jamming and pretty much anything else that involves the cello.
